Restoring Our Native Ecosystems

Transforming urban and suburban landscapes with native plants for a sustainable future.

Stepping Up Progress for a
Healthier Future

We are a passionate team dedicated to advancing the use of native plants throughout the US and beyond as an alternative to the resource-heavy, chemically dependent, and water-demanding lawns and landscapes that dominate the US.

We believe native plants are vital to restoring habitats for pollinators, birds, and insects, cleaning our air and drinking water, and can help mitigate the effects of climate change.

Make a significant impact on our planet by getting involved. Connect with us to learn about our programs for Wholesale Growers and Nursery Retailers, training seminars for the Lawn and Garden Industry, our 10x10 Lawn Replacement Program for State and Local Agencies, our Native Plant Advocacy Speakers Bureau, and RECAP - Restoration Earth's Corporate Awareness Program.

To address the climate and biodiversity crises, we’re implementing innovative solutions and advocating for policy changes. Our initiatives include increasing the availability of native plants grown and distributed by wholesalers and retailers, training the landscaping industry to incorporate native plants into their designs, encouraging homeowners to replace lawn areas with native plants, and educating the public and government officials on the benefits of using native plants.

Our efforts are as varied as the environments we help to restore. We collaborate with communities, and businesses with programs to increase the availability and use of native plants in urban and suburban landscape installations and with government agencies on reducing outdoor water consumption by shrinking the more than 40 million acres of land devoted to lawns in the US.

Our Mission

Rerr

Our mission is to increase the supply and use of native plants throughout all landscapes, helping restore biodiversity and providing an abundant and thriving planet for all living beings.

Utilizing Market-Based Solutions that incentivize both consumers and producers to change behavior, our multifaceted approach includes building on the public's nascent but rapidly expanding desire to purchase ecologically friendly native plants and simultaneously creating new business opportunities for wholesale growers, retail distributors, and the lawncare and garden industry to fulfill consumers' needs.

Our Initiatives

Re-Think

Educate and Inform the Public about the environmental, health, and cost benefits of having less lawn and more native plants in the landscape, thus stoking the demand for native plants.  This includes RECAP, Restoration Earth's Corporate Awareness Program.

Re-Invent

Increase the Number of Wholesale Growers and Retail Sellers who grow and distribute native plants to create an accessible and reliable supply for the public. As a result, the increase in the availability of native plants will increase the adoption and demand from the retail buyer.

Re-Educate

Educate and Train the Lawn Care and Garden Industry on the installation and maintenance of native landscapes; demonstrate the financial benefits of dedicating more of their business to meeting homeowners' growing desire to incorporate more native plants into their landscapes.

Re-Store

Encourage Homeowners to plant more native plants by participating in Restoration Earth's 10x10 Program. This "starter" program will encourage homeowners to replace a minimum of 100 sq ft of lawn with native plants. We are working with state and county offices and conservation commissions to adopt Restoration Earth's 10x10 Program.
